The Flower Garden - Joe Hisashi - Howl’s Moving Castle
I love Hisashi’s composition style, he seems to be very influenced by classical and romantic composers like Mahler and Strauss.
The soundtrack as a whole sounds magical with high, light tuned percussion, harp trills paired with his typical, delicate piano solos. This cue in particular is one of his more beautiful pieces that includes the main theme. His string arrangement is flawless and paired with the visual, brings the beauty of the animated garden alive.
He sectioned this cue to really allow the timbre of each instrument to come through, beginning with a short introduction of harp and tuned percussion he leads into gorgeous strings. The whole orchestra builds until the main focus changes to the horn section. Then a short, staccato woodwind section before returning to the violins for the repeat of the theme and ending with gentle horns.
